  • You are looking for a silicone solution, plastic-free

Mammex is an innovative medical device designed specifically for collecting, storing, and administering Colostrum (the “first milk” or “liquid gold”). Designed to maximize every precious drop secreted in the very first days postpartum, Mammex offers a hygienic, sterile, zero-waste alternative to traditional expression methods.

Why choose Mammex?

The Mammex benefit: Thanks to its ergonomic design and low-volume direct collection system, 0% loss, 100% benefit for the newborn. It guides hand expression, which can be difficult on the first attempts.

Advice

Usage Tips

1. Collection

  • Wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Gently massage the breast (hand expression).
  • Place the Mammex funnel/tip directly under the nipple to collect Colostrum drops as they appear.

2. Storage

  • Close the collector immediately using the airtight cap provided.
  • Label the bottle (Name, Date, Collection time).
  • Store in the refrigerator or freezer according to current medical protocols.

3. Administration

  • Warm the collector gently to room temperature or under warm water (no microwave).
  • Administer directly to the newborn using the soft tip or a sterile pipette/syringe, as recommended by your midwife or pediatrician.

Intended for

  • Maternity wards and Neonatology units: Ideal for encouraging early breastfeeding, especially for premature or hypoglycemic babies.
  • Expectant mothers: Recommended to build a Colostrum reserve at the end of pregnancy (with medical advice, generally from 36 or 37 weeks of amenorrhea).

Recommendations

⚠️ Important note: Ask your midwife or obstetrician for advice before starting Colostrum expression (generally recommended from 36 or 37 weeks of pregnancy) in specific cases of mother–baby separation, hypoglycemia…

The “+” for mothers

On the day of delivery, slip your frozen tubes into an insulated pouch for the maternity ward. Ask for them to be stored in proper conditions in the delivery room or maternity unit.

If your baby needs a little boost at birth (hypoglycemia, difficulty latching), you can administer your Colostrum directly by syringe, without interfering with latching. Do not hesitate to be supported by the maternity ward’s breastfeeding lead or a lactation consultant who can visit you in your room.

Also available: 2 mL syringes and Haakaa Colostrum Kit

We remind you that a newborn who needs supplementation should ideally receive breast milk first (from their own mother or a donor), and that in cases of hypoglycemia, the recommended approach is glucose gel if no breast milk is available. If your baby must receive infant formula supplements, it is recommended to use a hydrolyzed formula to avoid sensitization to cow’s milk proteins (CMPA). See IHAB recommendations
