The “+” for mothers
On the day of delivery, place your frozen syringes in an insulated pouch for the maternity ward. Ask for them to be stored under proper conditions in the delivery room or maternity unit.
If baby needs a little boost at birth (hypoglycaemia, difficulty latching), you can administer your Colostrum directly with the syringe with the help of the medical team, without interfering with breastfeeding, if it is possible.
Also available: Haakaa Kit to store and dispense Colostrum and the Mammex device
🤓We remind you that a newborn who needs supplementation should ideally receive breast milk first (from their own mother or a donor), and that in cases of hypoglycaemia, the recommended approach is glucose gel administration if no breast milk is available. If your baby must receive infant formula supplements, it is recommended to use a hydrolysed formula to avoid sensitisation to cow’s milk proteins (CMPA). See BFHI recommendation
